A Postpartum Doula Committed to Inclusive and Compassionate Care

Hi, I’m Rehana!

I bring a unique blend of professional expertise, lived experience, and personal passion to my role as a postpartum doula. As a proud member of the Global Majority and a parent raising multiracial children, I am deeply committed to creating inclusive, affirming, and culturally responsive postpartum care that honors the diverse identities of all families.

With an educational and professional background in community and social services, and Policy, Administration, and Law, I place equity, advocacy, and inclusion at the heart of my practice. I am currently a student at MotherWit Doula Training, deepening my expertise in holistic and evidence-based postpartum support. I am a former La Leche League breast/chest feeding counselor, having supported families in both Canada and France. My studies in Community and Social Services, Fine Arts, English, and Public Policy have shaped my worldview in meaningful ways, enriching her approach to postpartum care.

Professionally, I have worked extensively in employment counseling and social advocacy, supporting street-involved youth, individuals navigating the criminal justice system, people with intellectual disabilities, the elderly, and other marginalized communities. This diverse experience informs a compassionate, inclusive, and knowledge-driven approach to family support.

A strong advocate for peaceful, conscious parenting, I see parenting as a powerful tool for social transformation—a revolutionary act of resistance against oppression and the colonial frameworks that have shaped mainstream parenting practices in the Global North. My work is rooted in social justice, decolonization, and the celebration of diverse family structures and gender identities.

As a parent, I personally understand both the joys and challenges of the postpartum journey. I find inspiration in reading about equity and discrimination, and spending quality time with my children and husband. I love cooking, baking bread, being outdoors, reading, attending live music events, being an amateur gardener, and spending time with friends. At home, you will often find me accompanied by our beloved little puppy, who enjoys "helping" by curling up on my lap while I work.

Through a holistic and personalized approach, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, affirming, and empowering postpartum care. By blending professional expertise with a deep commitment to social justice, I want to create a safe and nurturing space where every family feels supported and valued.

Our Mission

At Gentle Revolution Doula Care, I am committed to providing compassionate, inclusive, and personalized postpartum support that addresses the unique needs of every family. My mission is to create a safe, nurturing, and affirming space where every parent feels heard, supported, and empowered during the transformative postpartum, or “4th Trimester”, period.

I am proud to serve all families, with a particular commitment to those who have been historically marginalized or excluded from traditional postpartum care. This includes:

  • Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) families seeking culturally responsive postpartum care.

  • LGBTQ2AI+ families, including queer, transgender, and non-binary parents, who deserve affirming and knowledgeable support.

  • Single parents and non-traditional family structures, including polyamorous families, blended families, and chosen families.

  • Immigrant and refugee families navigating cultural, language, or systemic barriers to postpartum care.

While Gentle Revolution Doula Care is not a social services agency, I am deeply committed to social justice, equity, and advocacy. I recognize the systemic barriers many families face and strive to provide care that is holistic, decolonized, and culturally sensitive.

My goal is to disrupt inequities in traditional postpartum care while celebrating the strength, resilience, and diversity of all families. At Gentle Revolution Doula Care, I believe that postpartum support should be a right, not a privilege, and I am here to uplift, empower, and stand alongside every family on their journey.
